Born in Myrtle Beach, SC, a beautiful Southern beach resort, I always had a passion for learning and athletics. While earning a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering at Auburn University and Virginia Tech, I toured with several local dance companies performing in everything from ballet to tap to West African. I was taught and inspired by some of the world’s top dancers.  As the academic stress and workload continued and grew, my body began to “sag” even with the dance performances and rehearsals. I joined the new gym in Blacksburg , VA.   A trainer showed a few moves, some other bodybuilders in the gym showed me a few more, and with my “all-or-nothing” personality, I was hooked.

After moving to Southern California more and more folks at the gym suggested competing, so I went to check out a show.  The show was the Excalibur in 2002, and the next year I did that show. My first couple of shows I hovered around the middle in big groups.  I am naturally very thin (or skinny) and putting on muscle size is a challenge, and I love a good challenge. I eat and eat and workout consistently, and it is starting to pay off…

·         1^st in the tall class at the ANBC Beach Cities Classic  - July 2004

·         3^rd in the tall class at the NPC Tournament of Champions - September 2005

·         5^th in the tall class at the NPC Orange County Muscle Classic XXVII – April 2006

The NPC is stiff competition, so I’m pleased just by placing. My next show is the NPC LA County on July 22, 2006 .  I would love to add another 8-10 lbs of muscle (in my legs!) to come in contest shape at 135-140 lbs.  It’s hard to believe I have already added 10 lbs of muscle since that first show… I said I was skinny!
