Dianne says she wasn't particularly athletic when she was young, but enjoyed dance class in High School. She started taking aerobics classes regularly when she was 20 just to get in shape. Two years later she became an aerobics instructor and continued to teach aerobics classes for the next 12 years. Eventually she became the Aerobics Director at Sports Connection in Torrance, CA, where she also began to lift weights for general fitness. That's where it started... but it wasn't serious yet.
Dianne's "other" job at the time was as an exotic dancer at a strip club in Venice, CA. Some of the Male IFBB Pro Bodybuilders who happened to visit the club got to know Dianne, and one of them convinced her that she should take up bodybuilding. So she began training at Gold’s Gym Venice with a trainer. She put on muscle rapidly, starting at 125 lbs. and nine months later winning the novice division of the NPC Orange County at 139 lbs. She was pretty much hooked on Bodybuilding after that first contest. She continued to dance for a couple more years until the management felt she was too big to be on stage. She then became a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym in Redondo Beach, CA, where she also taught conditioning classes. She's been there ever since and says she really loves it there.
Editor's Note: We at World Class Muscle know first hand that Dianne's classes are the most popular at the Redondo Gold's, and she's the one to come to when somebody's looking for a personal trainer. The thing she gets told most by new female clients? "I want to get in good shape, but I don't want to be as big as you." ;-) But some of those women have turned out to get the bodybuilding bug as well... including Susan Kodaira, who's also featured on World Class Muscle: The Women!
